Vibram Fivefingers® at NY Fashion Week

CONCORD, Mass., -- Widely recognized and revered for encouraging consumers to explore the joys of natural movement outdoors, Vibram FiveFingers® , the unique glove-styled footwear recently created a stir at NY Fashion Week . Designer Adrian Alicea outfitted all of his male models in Vibram Fivefingers® for his Hybrids of the Deep Blue Sea show, a collection inspired by the sea and its creatures. Models donned in bold blue and coral- colored loungewear strutted the catwalk in equally colorful footwear styles from Vibram, including the Vibram FiveFingers Speed, KomodoSport, Bikila, SeeYa LS and select watersport models from the upcoming spring line the Signa and Maiori. For unfamiliar audience members it was a fascinating touch. “We are so well known in the outdoor market but for many of the fashionistas at the show this was a first and they were very intrigued ,” explained PJ Antonik , PR rep for Vibram , “ It’s exciting to have our designs acknowledged in the fashion world. It has taken some time for toe shoes to become fashionably accepted. We knew it would eventually happen and what a great way to show this other than Fashion Week.” Although this is Vibram Fivefingers® first foray into fashion week, the footwear has already developed a celebrity following , including: Prince Henry, Shailene Woodley,Kristen Stuart, Tom Cruise, Scarlett Johansson, Mathew McConaughey, Kate Hudson, Danny Glover, Josh Duhamel and Thomas Jane. The footwear has also been featured on episodes of CSI, Up All Night, 30 Rock, Alphas and was worn by Katie Perry’s dancers on an American Idol appearance.
