After Vibram January ‘s HongKong100, Transgrancanaria is the Ultra Trail World Tour’s stage 2 for Trailrunning Team Vibram. “We are extremely happy to be back to this astonishing race; Transgrancanaria is really impressive, in terms of both organization and beauty of the landscapes”, reports Jerome Bernard, marketing manager at Vibram.>
Transgrancanaria (Gran Canaria, March 4-6) is a very tough race, as numbers say: 125km and +8,000m vertical!
Uphill sections are very steep since the very beginning of the race, ground is often rocky or stones, downhill sections require control. 125km is a long trip, hours and hours of effort: equipment is crucial! Weather is usually dry and warm, except in the mountains where short rains can make terrains very slippery. Vibram runners have made their choice…they will have tons of grip and traction under their feet. Gediminas Grinius (winner of Transgrancanaria 2015), Carlton Rowlands and Marco Zanchi will have Vibram soles made of Megagrip, Vibram high performance rubber compound offering unparalleled grip on rock, while Javier Dominguez Ledo and Uxue Fraile Azpeitia will wear Vibram soles with powerful lugs ensuring traction.
Vibram now wishes a memorable and safe race to all participants.
Team Vibram runners have chosen the following shoes to run TRANSGRANCANARIA:
- Marco Zanchi: Merrell “All Out Peak” (powered by Vibram Megagrip)
- Gediminas Grinius: Hoka “Speedgoat” (powered by Vibram Megagrip)
- Carlton Rowlands: The North Face “Ultra MT” (powered by Vibram Megagrip)
