Vibram, leader in the development and manufacturing of high-performance rubber soles, will be in Alpe d'Huez from the 4 to 10 July for Megavalanche, one of the most important mountain biking races in Europe and number one when it comes to spectacle and adrenalin.
The competition, which was launched in 1995 and is now an annual fixture for downhill fans, represents the perfect race for daredevil mountain bikers who will be engaged in a high-speed challenge against the forces of gravity. The route leaves from the Pic Blanc glacier (at 3,300 metres) and ends in the valley bottom at Allemont (720 metres), with more than 2,000 metres of height difference over approximately 30km.
This year, for the very first time, Vibram - the company which has been creating footwear solutions for biking enthusiasts since its inception - will be at this exceptional race with its Sole Factor truck. This is an "on the road" vehicle spanning 110 square metres. Inside it, Vibram professionals will be available to demonstrate the footwear improvements achieved by applying a high-performance Vibram sole to mountain biking shoes to anyone interested. The first lucky few to go to the truck will get the chance to experience the upgrade to their footwear first hand!
Vibram is set to introduce two technologies to mountain biking fans: Vibram MEGAGRIP, the exclusive compound developed for optimally tackling the most demanding wet surfaces by providing a blend of resistance and grip, and Vibram IDROGRIP, a compound designed to offer maximum grip on wet surfaces and which, thanks to its special density, provides outstanding grip on mountain bike pedals too.
Seeing is believing! The Vibram team will be there to meet the public and let them try the various Vibram soles for mountain biking, thanks to the ramp installed in front of the truck. The Vibram MEGAGRIP compound can be put to the test in various situations, on both wet and dry terrain at various degrees of incline.
Megavalanche is the yellow octagon company's first meeting with riders. Vibram is also expected to be at Eurobike, the most important European trade show dedicated to the cycling world.
